Sometimes it’s quality over quantity. Sometimes quantity matters as well, when time is short and limited. I’m sure I’m not alone in this, but for those of us who have school or day jobs that we’re committed to, our vacation days are so, so limited. I wish I wouldn’t have to bear the consequences of just packing my bags and go (looking at my bank account), but sadly most of us are tied to so responsibilities we can’t walk away from just anytime we want. That being said, I do have many goals and ideas in mind that would hopefully materialise few years down the road.

And with this, here’s my little 30 before 30 goal: to touch foot and explore one or more places in at least 30 countries (transits in airports are not included). I’ve only 15* under my belt so far, with 3 more adding to my list in the next month (so exciting!), so here’s the breakdown:

Destinations I’ve been (details in my About page)

1. AUSTRALIA

2. CANADA

3. CHINA

4. HONG KONG SAR*

5. INDONESIA

6. ITALY

7. JAPAN

8. MALAYSIA

9. MYANMAR

10. SINGAPORE

11. SOUTH KOREA

12. SWITZERLAND

13. TAIWAN*

14. THAILAND

15. USA

*I know there are lots of debates going on whether HK and TW should even be considered as countries, but for simplicity sake, I’ve classified them separately as these 3 regions of the Greater China are known for different things in the travel category. (I haven’t been to Macau)

Upcoming

16. ICELAND

17. FINLAND

18. ESTONIA

Top destinations I wish to visit in the next 5 years

19. SOUTH AFRICA

20. BRAZIL

21. PERU

22. CHILE

23. ARGENTINA

24. CAMBODIA

25. VIETNAM

26. PHILIPPINES

27. LAOS

28. FRANCE

29. UK

30. ANTARCTICA

Of course, this list is not fixed, and I do have many, many other places I’d like to visit and check off, but I shall priortise these first if I could. You’d realise I’ve also tried to check off all 6 continents (my time was 7, ugh) in the next 5 years as well, and I reaaaaally want to go Antarctica.

South America is a place that is so far from where I’m based (as if my 36h journey to Canada wasn’t enough), but I’ve read so much about it that I can’t wait to see this culturally rich continent with my own eyes.

It’s better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times.

Anddd there are the other parts of SEA that I just gotta find opportunities to go. Having lived in Singapore for the past 21 years, it’s a shame I haven’t managed to explore these countries in the surrounding region. I’ll make sure they’re in my list soon!

keep travelling,
